 Staff

Piers is a former Brit who moved to Texas in the early 90s, he would first get the wheel behind of a vintage race car ten years ago and has traveled across the US and Europe racing vintage sports cars. His car of choice is the Lotus Cortina, one of the most successful race cars of the 1960s. The married of Colin Chapman's Lotus and Ford's UK division.

The Lotus Cortina was a success right out of the gate, with a podium finish at its first race in the Oulton Park Gold Cup. Ford would soon be campaigning the Cortina in the UK, Europe, and the USA. Racing legends like Sir John Whitmore, Jackie Ickx, and Gelignite' Jack Murray all raced the little Ford with great success. In the US, the Cortina was a force to be reckoned with in the under 2000 cc class of the Trans Am Series.

Of the around 2500 Mk1 Lotus Cortinas built, just 250 were left-hand-drive, Piers' car has been raced for more than 30 years and is still competitive in its class today. Look for the Lotus to be running neck and neck with its period rival the Alfa Romeo Guilia.
